Art for Art: Performances for no audience. August 20th, 2005 22:00 – 23:30
The first performance at The Mountain Plaza was based on the spirit of the work and all of the life dramas that have played out during the making of the clay acoustic wall. Two volunteers lost their beloved family members, while two babies, including our own, were welcomed into the world.
A“buto” dancer was wrapped in a long cotton fabric, and as he unraveled himself and moved/danced around clay acoustic wall, we burned, carved and painted the raw clay wall with black and white engobes. Three musicians (acoustic guitar, percussions, vocal) were high up in the scaffolding intensifying the moment with their sounds. A playwright, a photographer and video crew observed, documented and shared in the charged creative space.
Artists: Tomofumi Akie, Koji Fukaya and band, Hiromi Hayashi, Hideki Kami and Tsutomu Horio.
